🔥 The Brief
Following Papa John’s ‘New Spice’ campaign, the W Studio team were tasked in creating a set of social assets to support the campaign. The digital materials must engage social media users and appeal to a Gen-Z demographic.
🔥 The Response
In order to engage the highly digital-savvy demographic who have seen everything on social media, it was essential to create something new and unique. I decided to incorporate Gen-Z’s trend of nostalgic culture, by creating an interactive 8-bit inspired video game. Utilising the Facebook and Instagram ‘story’ functions, we created a series of animated videos which simulated a responsive video game
Using elements of the video advert, I developed the storyboards for New Spice Guy on his Spicy Adventure to find the ultimate spicy pizza slice. The game features classic retro tropes such as power ups, enemies, cutscenes and a boss fight.
As well as the three part game, a selection of animated GIFs were created to be used on social media to support the campaign and have achieved over 1.5 million views on Giphy.
